Goodbye January. You Sucked.

Hello everyone,
Tonight I decided to write about something personal.
We live in a world where we are easily exposed as well as easily made up to be super pretty. We live in a world that if life isn't going so great we can go on Facebook, rant, and get sympathy from everyone we know. Or we can take pictures of a "perfect" life and post it on Instagram, no matter what is really happening. All I'm saying is that I do both. I'm revealing a lot on here because I know my life is far from perfect, and the unique thing about blogs, is that someone can come across your post, and relate. You never know who can benefit from shared struggles. So I'm taking off the mask.
Welcome to my real un-perfect life.

So 2016 started off lovely. Yep... Started. Not too long into this month, my world came to a halt. I was fired from the job that I had for 4 years. It was everything to me. It was my family, my life, and of course my income. I know it is pathetic to call it my life but most of the people in my life, are from that job. My managers that I had been working with for years who always said they would take care of me, and that they loved me where gone. The family that I had been a part of was gone. I felt abandoned and like I was tossed out on my butt.
Truth is that I wasn't happy there, and I felt like I was in a slump. Nothing new or exciting was happening, and I didn't like the person that I was when I was at work. But when a job(good or bad) becomes a part of you as a person, it is very easy to stay. It is familiar and easy. Even if it drains a lot out of you.
So after I was let go,I was trying to stay positive and be more of the person I wanted to be. I started playing my guitar more, reading, and going on walks with my friend Taylor and her adorable baby. I felt great. Then I would get sad and lonely all over again. Only 3 people from my old job still talk to me. Which I'm pretty thankful for, and they have been an incredible support system through this entire thing. But when you had what felt like a whole army behind you suddenly disappear, you begin to understand a few things. So maybe my family got a bit smaller, but I still have one. And thats all any of us could ask for in this life. So I love and thank them. As well as my legit family. My parents and siblings were really there for me, and swooped in like superheroes to help me out. Again, I'm in good shape.
I have two job interviews this week, and I'm looking forward to a new beginning. I said I didn't like that person I was, well this is the opportunity for me to be the person I want to be. I have never felt better about myself, and I believe in myself. This whole experience has made me stronger.

There is one good thing that happened this month, my beautiful niece was born. Baby Reese is perfection. And I want to be the best version of myself for her. I want her to know how loved she is, and I want her to see how much good there is in this world. And I think this terrible experience really helped me become the person I want to be. The person she and everyone else needs me to be.
So the bottom line is, life sucks sometimes but keep fighting. Things are going to test you, hurt you,and scare you. But the way you recover and power through is everything. They develop you as human being, and make you tough. If you believe things will get better and think positively, you can get through whatever it is that is hurting you. And be thankful for the people in your life that will never leave your side.

Things get better. It gets better.

Love,
Kacie

Sky High

Hello!
Here I am! Back with ANOTHER outfit/fashion post. I guess you can say I'm getting a little bit better.

So this trend has been EVERYWHERE and I am obsessed. Last week I was talking about 70's fashion and how it is completely back, well these boots fall into that. Thigh high boots are everywhere! They are commonly made with suede, and can have any heel height. And since they are a boot, they can be dressed up or down, for day and night time looks. Which is what I did in this post.

First we'll talk about daytime. I paired them with skinny jeans, a cute but casual top,and an oversized blazer to keep it diverse. You could even use a cardigan or jacket with this look, but it's important to have something to balance it out. And I chose to throw my hair up to keep it cool and effortless.  Pair it with your everyday bag and you're set!

Now my favorite part! Nighttime.
I paired the boots with a little black dress, with a low back. Trying to keep it simple, that way the focus is on the highlight of the outfit, which is the boots. Throwing on a black leather jacket keeps up with the "Cool Girl" style that I'm more drawn too. With an item like this, it's so important not to clutter the outfit up. So keep it simple. Thats why I chose to straighten my hair for this look, which I never do. So these damn boots better understand that they are special. I don't straighten my hair for just anyone.

Hope you all have a good week, and thank you for stopping by!

Flare

So this trend has been on my mind for months. Taking a note out of history, these 70's style flare jeans are incredible. Considering I haven't worn anything other than skinny jeans for the past 4 years. As this year begins I have been a lot willing with what I wear, and trying what I've been into. I have figured out that fashion and style is all about attraction. So if you like a certain trend, try it out. See what you think, and if you feel comfortable. Making sure you feel comfortable in an outfit is key, you wear the outfit, don't let it wear you. Liking what you like, and not wearing what others consider "cool".
Which brings me to this post. Ive been wanting to get my hands on a pair of jeans like this since they have caught my eye on so many occasions, and I'm thrilled that I tried them out.

The 70's are back, which excites me, considering that era has heavily influenced my style.
I paired these Lucky Brand Jeans with a Forever 21 Crop top,and Lucky Brand platforms. But I would also recommend peasant tops, tuck in flowey button up,or even tee shirts for a more casual look.
For a few examples, I give you my muses. Kate Hudson,Kate Moss, and Lauren Conrad.

I'm going to try and post more on fashion. So hopefully you enjoy this, I found that I'm a little rusty on outfit posts so I will try to work more on this subject!

Build a Look For you/ Beauty Faves.

Hello everyone,
Im here today with a makeup look that I have been wearing everyday and I'm really loving it. One thing is very important with this look is the research. I recommend everyone do this because you will figure out what best suits you. Just go on pintrest and research eye shapes and face shapes. Look at yourself in the mirror or ask a friend to figure out what eye/face type you are. And when you figure it out start looking up makeup looks that go best with your features. My face shape is long/round and I have upturned/almond eyes. So I do my makeup centered around that. In this post I'll tell you how I have been applying my makeup around these features.

These are the products I have been using and I honestly would put them on here if they weren't good. And most of them are pretty affordable. The 3 that aren't are the foundation, eyeliner, and bronzer. But they are complete magic and worth the money. And I WILL spend good money on foundation because when you are pale like me it is hard to find a good match on skin tone. So when I find one that fits me, I''ll buy it.

Of course, make sure your skin is moisturized and primed before you start.

I pour my foundation on the back of my hand so it will warm up the foundation,so that it will be easier to apply. The I dampen my Beauty Blender and just start dapping my foundation into my skin, don't swipe, press. Apply all over the face and neck.

Also do a round of under eye concealer, I press it in as well with a brush,my fingers or a beauty blender. Thats why I will always recommend liquid concealer for under the eyes because it is very easy to manipulate.

Eyebrows are so important. Shape them and fill them in. But keep then looking natural. Always remember that they are sisters and not twins, I forgot to put the product in the box above, it is the Loreal Brow Stylist Definer. The comb on the end is a god send. I really dig this brow product.

To bronze/contour I take this fluffy angled brush, and make a fish face to define my nonexistent cheek bones. Lightly swipe it onto my temples, down my nose,my jawline, and neck. Wherever the sun would naturally hit you is where to apply. And under the neck to make sure your head looks like it belongs to your body. Just saying.

I apply blush in the color Light Rose by smiling to see where I would naturally need it. Giving you a natural flush of color. Did I just say flush? Makes me think of.... never mind.

I was watching The Shining on Netflix when I was doing my makeup. And the part where Danny/Tony were screaming REDRUM was on, so this happened. But this part of the tutorial is totally optional.

Then on to highlighter. I just now started using it and I'm obsessed with using it. And I've been getting lots of complements as well, like " Am I dead, because I've just seen an angel" and "You Glow like a goddess sitting on a mountain of gold". K, nope I didn't get those, but "you're skin looks pretty and has a nice glow" was pretty damn close.I sweep it in a line on my cheek bones for now.

I then move to the eyes. I begin by applying a light brown color to my eyes.

Then take the color tattoo eye shadow and put it only on the outer corner of my eyes. For my almond/upturned eyes it good to focus everything on the outer corner, accentuating my eye shape and bringing out the most of them.

Then apply liner. I start it where my lashes begin, so I'm not beginning at the very inner corner of my eye. Then take it all the way out. I start layering the eyeliner on the outer corners, again bringing the focus to that part of my eye. So the line is pretty dramatic but only on the outer corners. It is a process so take your time.

Now apply mascara.  Even is I have a full fledged mirror, I still grab a compact to do my lashes. So I can get a good close look to separate every lash and apply it just right.

Then I come back with the highlighter. I put it in the inner corners of my eyes(helps you look more awake and your eyes bigger), brow bone, and the cupids bow on my lips.

I like applying vaseline to my lips. Its not dehydrating and it gives them a simple gloss.

Hope you liked it!
Have a wonderful week,
kacie.
